Why am I getting this message: “Job will run on local machine”
Hello, when I use the ‘batchsubmit’ command to submit a job to NEEShub via the workspace, I am getting the message “Job will run on local machine”. I never used to get this message, what does it mean.
“Local machine” sounds like my personal pc from which i am working, but this can’t be right because that would defeat the purpose of using NEEShub. I just want to confirm that I am not missing something? Perhaps I have been cut off from the computing power of NEEShub because I have some outstanding jobs which I submitted and may have had convergence issues?
Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks, Michael

Michael,
My suspicion is that the “local machine” is the machine where you are performing the job submission. In other words, the NEEShub computer where the workspace is running.
I believe the way to solve this problem is to look at the —venue flag for batchsubmit. There are several options for the venue (i.e. osg, kraken) and one of them is the “local” machine.
I hope this helps.

Hi Bahareh, Could you please post the batchsubmit command you are running? If I do the following, my job (hostname) go to run on Steele: batchsubmit —venue steele hostname Replace “hostname” with the command that you are running. For submitting jobs to Hansen, I would do: batchsubmit —venue hansen your_rest_of_the_command And as Juan mentioned, “local machine” means your NEES workspace machine, not your laptop. Hope that helps. Thanks! —Tanzima
