| Description: | Discovering OpenSees: Surfing the Waves of OpenSees seminar "Conducting Hybrid Simulations with OpenSees/OpenFresco" on March 7 The next seminar in the web-based Discovering OpenSees: Surfing the Waves of OpenSees learning series will occur on March 7th. The session will be broadcast twice to allow users in all time zones around the world to participate. This 1-hour session is titled "Conducting Hybrid Simulations with OpenSees/OpenFresco" and will occur on March 7 at 9:00 am Pacific Time & 5:00 pm Pacific Time. OpenFresco http://openfresco.berkeley.edu/ (the Open-source Framework for Experimental Setup and Control) is an environment-independent software framework, based on modern object-oriented software design and programming methodologies. The software connects finite element models with control and data acquisition systems in an extensible manner to facilitate conducting local and geographically distributed hybrid simulations of structural systems. This seminar is the continuation of an earlier seminar on OpenFrescoExpress http://opensees.berkeley.edu/wiki/index.php/Discovering_OpenSees_-_Introduction_to_OpenFrescoExpress. This second seminar will provide a short introduction to the hybrid simulation testing technique and the architecture of OpenFresco. It will then illustrate how OpenSees/OpenFresco can be used to setup and execute more complicated hybrid models than what can be done with OpenFrescoExpress. This seminar covers: • Introduction to hybrid simulation • OpenFresco architecture and TCL commands • Downloading and installing OpenFresco • Building a hybrid model in OpenSees/OpenFresco • Simulated versus real controllers • How to use other computational drivers • Summary and conclusions How can I join the seminar? Register for the seminar on March 7 at 9:00 am Pacific Time: https://neesevents.webex.com/mw0307l/mywebex/default.do?siteurl=neesevents Register for the seminar on March 7 at 5:00 pm Pacific Time https://neesevents.webex.com/mw0307l/mywebex/default.do?siteurl=neesevents Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email with instructions for joining the meeting. More information will be posted at the Discovering OpenSees Wiki page http://opensees.berkeley.edu/wiki/index.php/Discovering_OpenSees. After the seminar, please complete the short evaluation form https://peercenter.wufoo.com/forms/discovering-opensees-seminar-evaluation/ to give OpenSees feedback and to suggest future seminar topics.
