NEES Simulation Bootcamp – June 2012
EMI/PMC 2012 Conference – Sunday, June 17, 2012
This Simulation Bootcamp will help you explore the current cyberinfrastructure tools available at the NEEShub for computational simulation. The bootcamp will take the form of an onsite competition with a number of milestones to be completed during the event.
After the bootcamp you will be familiar with running windows applications at the NEEShub, submitting large scale simulations, and other available cyberinfrastructure tools such as the library of computational models.
The files for this boot camp have not yet been uploaded.
inDEED and the Authoring Tool – February 2012
Date: Tuesday, 14 February 2012
Time: 12:30 – 1:30 pm (EST), 9:30 – 10:30 am (PST)
Description: This NEEShub Boot Camp Webinar will demonstrate data visualization capabilities available through the inDEED and Specimen Authoring tools.
The NEEShub allows researchers to share their data with the engineering community using several tools. The objective of this NEEShub Boot Camp webinar is to demonstrate the use of the tools inDEED and the Specimen Authoring Tool. InDEED is a tool that gives the user a way to process, visualize, analyze, and compare experimental and numerical earthquake simulation data.
The Specimen Authoring Tool is the tool that is used to create the input file for inDEED. Using an example file, the different options and capabilities of inDEED will be demonstrated, and a visualization file will be created with the Specimen Authoring Tool.

Simulation Capabilities on NEEShub – January 2012
Date: Tuesday, 17 January 2012
Time: 12 – 1 pm (EST), 9 – 10 am (PST)
Description: This NEEShub Boot Camp Webinar will introduce users to new NEEShub capabilities in the area of Simulation and Batch Processing. Recently added batch processing services will be discussed and demonstrated. These services make it easy to orchestrate a set of simulations runs for many different test cases and to provide access to high-capacity Scratch space. Upon completion of the Webinar, participants will be able to write scripts to submit one or more jobs to multiple execution venues utilizing high performance computing resources available to NEES.
This webinar is aimed at Power Uses with very large simulations or many simulations, users needing to script parameter sweeps, or users running structure analyses with a large suite of ground motions.
