  Dr. Sean Brophy is the Co-Leader of Education, Outreach and Training at NEEScomm. Dr. Brophy is also a faculty member with the School of Engineering Education at Purdue. He conducts research on how people learn difficult concepts and the design of advance learning environments to overcome these difficulties. He is helping to lead the NEES community toward using these methods to increase the research workforces in STEM careers, specifically, earthquake engineering. He brings to the team advance methods in using cyberinfrastructure for learning and learning sciences for designing and assessment effective learning experiences. He is a mechanical engineering formally in aerospace and a computer scientists developing computer supported challenge based instruction.
