The 2012 NSF Engineering Research and Innovation Conference, sponsored by the National Science Foundation’s Division of Civil, Mechanical and Manufacturing Innovation (CMMI) and hosted by Northeastern University, occurred July 9–12 in Boston, Massachusetts. The conference was held along with Quake Summit 2012, the George E. Brown Network for Earthquake Engineering Simulation's (NEES) annual meeting. Over 325 researchers, professionals, funding agencies, students and other colleagues attended both plenary and 20 concurrent technical sessions. A Poster Reception where 55 student researchers displayed their research projects, a Hybrid Simulation Workshop and an Education, Outreach and Training Workshop were also on the agenda for participants.
