Abstract

The Simulink implementations of the Modified Generalized-α (MG-α) time integration algorithm is provided as a downloadable tool. It is characterized by second order accuracy and linear stability. User controlled algorithmic damping allows for the dissipation of spurious higher modes typical of the FE discretization. A single degree of freedom linear system is implemented; in order to start the MG-α algorithm:
 

-           Download and extract the archive

-           Enter the extracted folder

-           Run the Simulink model “MG_Alpha_v3.mdl”
 
The implementation of a generic nonlinear multiple degrees of freedom system is straightforward.
