PEN Quick Start - Object Types

by Rachelle Howell, Ian Mathew

Object Types

An object is essentially any item in the project directory structure that is not a file or directory. There are certain actions in PEN that can be performed on objects that cannot be performed on directories or files. For example, you can create new objects and you can duplicate existing objects. Thus, it would be helpful to have some understanding of what constitutes an “Object”.

Objects in PEN include:

  • Experiments
    • Trials
      • Repetitions
    • Specimens
      • Components
        • Materials

  • Simulations
