Phase 3 DyeStudy – Red and green dye releases for visual observation of flow motions near an obstacle
Experiment Type: Tsunami Wave Basin
Description: Phase 3 of the TSUNAMOS Project. This phase will focus on the dynamics of a solitary wave passing by a conical obstacle, placed at the apex of an alongshore-variable shelf. This is a qualitative experiment to visualize the flow patterns during and after the passage of the solitary wave. Red and green dye are released at the shelf edge, at various locations that can be approximately identified through view the recorded images.

This experiment set is a qualitative study of the flow motions near the obstacle and the shelf break. The Trials start in the lee of the obstacle and work out to the end of the shelf. The final Trials return to the apex of the shelf.
