Experiment-9: Limit State Behavior of Base Isolated Structures: Base Isolated Moment Frame without Impact
Experiment Type: Shake Table
Description: For this experiment, the moment frame used in fixed base testing was replaced by an identical one. Also, friction pendulum bearings were installed at the base of the structure to provide base isolation. Dynamic ground motion simulations were applied to investigate the properties of the isolation devices and the superstructure as well. As with the fixed base experiment, a gravity frame free to move in the horizontal direction was connected to the moment frame. The results from this test were gathered for comparison with the results of the moment frame impacting with a moat wall.
