Description: Specimen BE-1 had a wall aspect ratio of 2.0, four confined No. 6 vertical reinforcing bars located at the ends of the wall and one No. 4 vertical bar located at mid-length, two No. 3 horizontal bars spaced at 8 in. on center over the height of the wall, and zero axial load. Confinement of the No. 6 vertical bars at the ends of the wall was provided by No. 3 closed hoops. All vertical reinforcement was developed in the footing and was continuous throughout the wall height
