Experiment Grouping in the Project Warehouse

For projects that are broad in scope (e.g., grand challenge projects) where the nature and subject of the experiments can vary greatly, it would be nice to be able to group experiments either by subject, test type, or the institution performing the test. This way if the experiments are not created in a grouped manner when the project is set up, it’s still possible to link associated experiments so the end user knows that these experiments are all related.

I envision this tool addressing a few issues when multiple individual groups are working on a single awarded project, such as a grand challenge type: 1) This would make uploading more efficient for new users as this tool would clarify where their data should be uploaded, as well as distinguishing the different experimental tasks; 2) The list of equipment in the project tab, as is, requires a full list regardless of which experiment it was used for (in my view confusing and should be linked with the particular experiment through this grouping); and 3) Currently users do not have the ability to amend the order of the experiments, grouping would allow each particular institution group to ensure their experiments are listed together and the grouping would provide a compact list of experiment types of interest. I hope an experimental grouping tool is created, since it would provide more specific experimental organization and remove individual working groups confusions in uploading data (how it fits into the bigger picture).

Thank you for contributing your wish to NEEShub. We value feedback from the community as a means to regularly improve NEEShub. All wishes are considered and prioritized by the Requirement Analysis and Assessment Subcommittee, which consists of members from the user community. The prioritized wishes are then aligned with the immediate and long-term NEES goals by the Cyberinfrastructure Release Committee so that a workable development plan for the next Release of NEEShub can be designed.

Your wish will be considered for a future release.
