Ability to serve live webcasts

UNR broadcasts a webcast of tests, and have had as many as 100 connections to our server (Windows Media Server). As cameras and software improve, we will not have the bandwidth to server that many clients at a higher resolution. I would propose that the capability to broadcast live webcasts be added to neeshub, both to serve as the main server for sites that don’t presently have webcast capability, and to serve as a 2nd connection point for higher demand webcasts.

    Hi Rodney –

Have you considered VLC for this situation? Robert Beckley with UCSD has had success with it and indicates it is easy to use.

    thanks, Dawn

Thank you for contributing your wish to NEEShub. We value feedback from the community as a means to regularly improve NEEShub. All wishes are considered and prioritized by the Requirement Analysis and Assessment Subcommittee, which consists of members from the user community. The prioritized wishes are then aligned with the immediate and long-term NEES goals by the Cyberinfrastructure Release Committee so that a workable development plan for the next Release of NEEShub can be designed.

Your wish will be considered for a future release.

    Rodney,

We have developed a streaming solution for EOT that might suit your needs. Contact me, that we might set up a test of our system, NEESlive to meet your needs.

You can see the interface under “Learning and Outreach”->“For Professionals->“NEESlive”
