Ability to calculate checksums on just part of tree

At present checksums can be calculated for the entire Project or for individual files. I have a project for which calculating the checksums for all the raw data in the project presently takes 4 days (I have always stopped the process after 24 hours with it 1/4 done). I will be adding 4 additional Experiments to the 4 that already exist during the next 12 months. Calculating checksums for hundreds of files one at a time is too time consuming. I would like to be able to select part of the tree, i.e. one experiment, and calculate the checksums.

    Rodney,

Thank you for this wish. We have decided to implement this functionality in the next version of PEN, Version 1.2.7. In this version, we now allow a user to select “Checksum File(s)” from any node in the tree. In addition, we have significantly improved checksum speed. We expect this version to be out within a few days, so I would recommend waiting for version 1.2.7 to calculate more checksums.

    Thanks,

    Rodney,

Sorry for the frequent updates. It turns out we are ready to release 1.2.7 today, so your wish should now be granted. PEN should now have the ability to checksum any node from the right-click menu. Performing this on an object, such as an experiment, will checksum all files under that object. The “tools” menu has been removed, but all old functionality remains: you can still use “Checksum files” on a project to checksum your entire project, and you can still “Checksum file” on an individual file to checksum that file.

    Thanks,
