|Description:||Six elastic model structures on a layered, saturated soil profile were subjected to four ground motions to study the interaction of adjacent structures on liquefiable ground. This experiment builds on Test-5 by varying the spacing between adjacent structures and introducing a new structure, Type K. This new structure has a bearing pressure similar to Type J, but the same center of mass and period as Type A.
The container was divided into 4 quadrants: 1) NW Quadrant – Type A and Type K aligned in the shaking direction; 2) NE Quadrant - Type A and Type J aligned in the shaking direction; 3) SW Quadrant – Isolated Type K structure; 4) SE Quadrant – Isolated Type A structure.
Three centrifuge spins were performed. During Spin I three shaking events (two step waves and one ground motion) were performed. During Spin II three shaking events (one step wave and two ground motions) were performed. During Spin III two shaking events (one step wave and one ground motion) were performed.
